Five Reasons Why You Might Want To Join The Trust For Devizes
Each month the Trust looks at the planning applications relating to Devizes, and communicates with the Town Council or Wiltshire Council if anything inappropriate appears to be in the offing. The more members the Trust has, the more pressure it can bring to bear on this type of activity.
The Trust is not connected to the Devizes Guardians. It may have some members in common, but it is a totally independent residents’ group.
The Trust meets in March, June and September in the Town Hall or at the Museum and lively discussion takes place. Members receive by post or electronically a quarterly magazine covering issues of interest to them.
It was founded in 1967 when the local Council erected a wall around the Crammer. The wall was soon demolished after the Trust organised a public protest. The Trust has spearheaded many local events since then that will benefit future generations.
At an annual membership fee of £15 per household this is a small price to pay for keeping Devizes a special place.
